In the future
you will need some way of getting digital TV
broadcasts.
Your options will be digital satellite TV, digital
cable TV or digital terrestrial TV.
Keep in mind
that Digital TV is not compatible with analog
TV and no attempt has been made to make it so.
However, there are some short-term plans to
help people adjust on a temporary basis.
Digital TV has
many Benefits
Digital TV gives you better quality pictures
and more channels to watch because it requires
less bandwidth than the old analog service.
The old analog
color TV standards had been designed in order
to be compatible with the existing monochrome
signals so that nobody needed to change their
TV equipment, unless they had the desire to
take advantage of the new color TV broadcasts.
However, by the
year 2012, most countries will have made the
full transition to digital TV services which
means that they will have switched off their
analog TV broadcasts.
It doesn't matter
If you are happy with your analog TV equipment.
If you want to continue watching TV broadcasts
then you will have to buy new equipment which
is geared toward the digital tv revolution.
